Building Our Next Story,

The Collierville Burch Library is Growing…

Why the expansion?

This has been a 10 year plan…

The vision for expanding the Collierville Burch Library has been 10 years in the making shaped by community input, expert planning, and a growing need for modern space. This includes initial conversations, research, and meetings with stakeholders beginning as far back as 2015. The Collierville Burch Library is ready to grow, both in size and in service to the community.

The expansion project is designed to meet the needs of today while preparing for the opportunities of tomorrow.

The Children’s Area currently holds around 40,000 items, with small spaces for seating and play. We welcome many families with young children, but the current layout makes it challenging to navigate with strollers and little ones in tow. An expanded and thoughtfully designed Children’s Area will provide families with a more comfortable, engaging, and accessible space to read, play, and learn together.

Flexible, Multi-Use Space

The library’s only public meeting room—the Halle Meeting Room, which seats 40—is also the sole space available for adult and teen programs. Our three study rooms are in constant use, and larger events often have to be held off-site due to space limitations. A new flexible, multi-purpose area would allow the library to host community meetings, educational programs, cultural events, and more—all under one roof.

Dedicated Teen Area

The current teen and children’s spaces are too small to meet daily needs….. The current teen and children’s spaces are too small to meet daily needs. The teen collection includes about 7,000 items, but not all can be displayed in the designated area. Popular materials like anime, graphic novels, test prep, and non-fiction are currently shelved in the adult section. The existing seating and browsing spaces are limited, offering only a few tables and chairs. A redesigned Teen Area would provide a welcoming place for teens to read, study, and connect.

Gathering Spaces for Adults

The library serves as a hub for learning, connection, and opportunity, but currently lacks adequate informal gathering spaces for adults….. The library serves as a hub for learning, connection, and opportunity, but currently lacks adequate informal gathering spaces for adults. Many residents use the library for remote work, tutoring, studying, or small business development. Teachers and tutors meet with students, small business owners use public PCs and laptops, and job seekers attend workshops and write resumes. Expanded spaces would support collaboration, lifelong learning, and community engagement.

Additional Spaces will include:
